Little House by Philliewig Little House by Philliewig
"Something is scratching its way out,
Something you want to forget about

No one expects you to get up
All on your own with no one around."

Credits to The Fray for the song "Little House".

I love this. I see nostalgia out at sea, and the textures are incredible.

Would you consider this non-representational or an abstracted (distorted) subject?

I'd say the latter choice, as it has that small yet present subject of the house, situated in the chaotic fore and background.

I see what you were going for, a heavy and abstract mood that implies disturbing... stuff. But honestly it comes out a bit forced but still aimless. I think you should concentrate on thinking of less deliberate subjects. More subtlely...

Thanks for the advice. I kind of chose the cliche subject matter as a way to bring the chaotic background together and give the piece a focal point. I'm not entirely satisfied with how it turned out, but I'm a bit scared to touch it and retouch it further, and people seem to like it so I'll stay away from this one X)

Cheers! :la:

Just marvelous! I really adore the abstract style and the feeling it portrays. It really gives off a wonderful mood and atmosphere, and although the colours seem to be muddy, it's not in a bad, overmixed and lost way. The only things I would probably suggest would to bring more focus to the little house. I didn't even notice it at first, and it wouldn't have understood the point of the piece as clearly. You could add a white highlight to it, or even make it bigger, etc in order to bring it as more of a focal point among the abstract imagery. But, other than that, the piece is just fantastic and very emotive. Keep up the great work :)
